There is not a lot happening in the blogosphere today, so I thought I would take this as an opportunity to give you an update on ProTycoon.com, your favourite bloggings tips blogs!

I think I will start with Blogging Idol, as that is one of the most talked about contests in the blogosphere at the moment. If you have been living in a cave for the past 2 weeks then here is the link to get you up to speed: ‘Blogging Idol Is Live‘, I am entry number 100. I started with 33 subscribers and at the time of writing I am at 59, that is a rise of 26. It is not a massive rise, but I have not used any black hat or cheap, tacky methods, that many of the other blogs have used. I have stuck to producing content that I believe you all want to read, many of the participants are offering freebies in return for people subcribing to their feed. If you enjoy my content and have not subscribed to my feed yet, you can subscribe via a reader or via email.

Now for an update on ‘My Technorati Targets‘:

Target Authority: 200 - Currently 47

Target Fans:20 - Currently 1

Target Rank: 200,000 - Currently 150,339

As you can see I am well clear in the Rank target, but I am a long way down in terms of Authority and Fans. You can help my reach these goals! If you like my content then please consider linking to your favourite posts in a link roundup post on your blog, this can help to increase my Authority. I always return the favour in my link roundup posts. If you have a post that you think is worthy of my link roundup posts on Sunday’s then feel free to contact me with the link and I will consider it. I also need 19 more fans to reach my target. I thought I would let you know that from July 1st onwards the 125*125 banners in my sidebar will be available for $10 a month. This is a low price to get me off and running with the sidebar banners. If you are interested in purchasing one of my ads, contact me.

do you realise that if you have an authority of 200 your rank would be about 20,000 or less? Not saying you cant hit it, just meaning that the individual targets seem to be a bit off.

They are staged targets, I know that I will hit one first then the next, then the next. If that makes sense. I knew the rank was the easy one, because I set a very high rank. Then I work towards getting the fans, who help me get the authority. Hope that makes sense.

Hey there - ok, so am I to assume from your post that you mean I am one of those bloggers offering freebies or tacky methods? No worries - I’m just teasing you. That is okay if you think I am - I don’t really think I am though. I mean yes, I’m offering freebies (free promotion of a link for the month of July) - but is that so bad really? And in terms of the giveaways - mommy blogs have tons and tons of giveaways all the time. Its historically a win-win - a great way for the mommy blog who is holding the giveaway to get traffic and a great way for the mommy blog/business who is the vendor to get more people to their store. The only difference is that I’m connected mine to Blogging Idol. Now, your blog happens to have more helpful info for me (I’m actually really excited to learn more about Entrecard - I still don’t get it. ..) than mine might for you -but I do think that i deliver good content on my blog if you are into the mommy stuff. ..

I am not putting down the method of freebies, as obviously it is a tactic that works and should not be ignored. I was not actually thinking of your blog at the time of writing, so you are ok,
Like I have said on another blog:
“Don’t blame the player, blame the game” - People do what they have to do in order to win, so you have to blame the contest/game not the person playing it.

Hey David ~ Thank you for this post … not only did it explain HOW I could help you with your contest but when I got to Technorati to add you and I realized that I had never added my own blogs there or done my pic or profile. Good job buddy. I’ve seen some major improvements from people in the contest. I didn’t enter it myself, but, that’s okay, I enjoy watching everyone else grow. I will fave you on technorati so I hope that gets you closer to your goal.
