How To Increase Your Technorati Rank
Please subscribe to ProTycoon.com via the RSS Feed or Via Email.
Many of my loyal readers will know about my Technorati Targets but for those of you that do not know, I have set myself a number of targets to reach on Technorati, they are:
Target Authority: 200 - Currently 78
Target Fans:20 - Currently 5
Target Rank: 200,000 - Currently 86,554
As you can see I have managed to dramatically improve my Technorati Rank, I want to share with you how I have managed to make such a big leap up the rankings.
Before I explain how I Increased my Technorati Rank lets look at how the Technorati rank is calculated. The rank is calculated using Technorati Authority, you gain Authority by getting mentions on other blogs. Technorati believes that your blog carries Authority if you are being mentioned on other blogs.
So as you can see, to increase your technorati rank you have to get other bloggers to link back to your blog.
How did I increase my Technorati Rank:
- I ran a contest
- I asked other bloggers to link to my posts
As many of you will know I am currently running a contest here at ProTycoon.com, one of the ways entrants can increase their chance of winning is to write a post and link it back to ProTycoon.com. This of course has helped to increase my sites Authority and in turn helped to increase my Technorati Rank.
Another method that I have used is to tell other bloggers about my best posts, in the hope that they will link to them in their links roundup posts. This has helped me to pick up a few extra Authority points.
If I keep up these tactics I should soon be in the top 50k blogs.
Help me reach my goals by becoming a fan of ProTycoon.com
I want to know how you increase your Technorati Rank, what is your best tactic?

Commenting on dofollow blogs can abruptly increase your technorati rank.
David Shaw | July 26th, 2008 at 1:38 pm #
Nice Tip Hussein.
Dont spam the comment boxes tho, otherwise you will get a bad reputation!
Hussein | Random Blog | July 27th, 2008 at 2:17 pm #
Yes you’re right. I don’t like spamming because I don’t want my blog to be spammed. Anyway, I’m now finally below 100k in Technorati. How I wish I can be below 50k.

Good stuff, I didn’t really understand how their system works, I just add my favorites. By the way, I just added you to my favs
So, the more links you have coming back to your blog, the more authority you get? Now, don’t they only count a link from a blog once? Say I have multiple links from a blog to my blog, only one will be counted right?
Melvin | July 27th, 2008 at 10:27 pm #
hey man, you have a pretty nice rank…
David Shaw | July 27th, 2008 at 10:35 pm #
@ JKSwopes
It counts each blog once! and is for the last 6 months!

Nice tips above and yeah, contest definitely helps to improve your ranking.
If I were to add, the quickest way to increase your Technorati rank (if no one is linking to you, well this may be the hardest) is through blog commenting and make your way into the Top Commentator list.
For each unique blog, you will get one authority and that will determine your Technorati Rank.

Blog Commenting is an important aspect in gaining links!
I actually have a post dedicated to blog commenting this week!
Hussein | Random Blog | July 28th, 2008 at 9:34 am #
@Yan - Thanks dude. I didn’t know that for each unique blog, you will get one authority and that will determine your Technorati Rank. Thanks for that great info. It’s all clear now to me.

blog commenting is also a good one ..
but wat about if we have niche blogs ? less commentators on such blogs and no contests too
David Shaw | July 28th, 2008 at 1:17 pm #
On small niche blogs you will have to work on the 2nd tier niche, so blogs that are slightly related!
Pras | July 28th, 2008 at 4:36 pm #
Hey, If your current ranking is 86554, why do you want to increase it to 2,00,000 ? I think its a typo. :). Check your target figure again.
David Shaw | July 28th, 2008 at 9:26 pm #
Rank counts downwards with No.1 being the best!
I am now at: 77,712
I have gained nearly 10k in the last couple of days!

You know there’s an extremely easier way of increasing your Technorati ranking… there’s one meme that you can participate in that will push you with hundreds of backlinks.
Of course, you also have to remember Technorati resets its ranking because its based on 6 month at a time…
