As many of you may have noticed I have not done any updating this week, this is because I decided to take a week out. I have been working really hard on all of my sites and blogs over the last month and have put a lot of other activities in my life on hold.
The last week has made me realise that I need to spend less time working online and focus on the things that are really important in life. I spend a lot of my time blogging, reading other blogs, updating my other sites, checking stats and advertising. The combined time of all these activities mean that it takes up a huge chunk of my week.
The result is that I have decided to stick to just one blog, this one. I currently have two other blogs and a number of money making sites. I am now going to sell all of those and focus all of my energies on ProTycoon.com and free up some more time to actually have a life.
I know many people who find it really easy to manage a number of sites and don’t let it control their life, but at the moment I feel like there is a lot of pressure on me to update and maintain my sites.
I want to know how you manage your time blogging? Do you set time aside for blogging activities?
Also if anyone is interested in purchasing an established blog, or any of my sites contact me for details of what I am selling.

David,
I think setting aside time is very important, though easier said than done. I do set apart time for this stuff, but, that doesn’t mean I don’t touch it in other times throughout the day.
It’s all about balance, and good balance will take you far. If you feel you need to focus on one blog, then do that! There is no rules and you are the one in control of what you do online.

I think I need to set out a routine for my blogging.

I have been going through the exact same phase. I have started blogging less and started spending more time in prayer. In fact I have decided I will only blog when I am really presented with a good idea to blog about and have something meaningful to blog. I am not going to blog just for the sake of blogging and putting out content. I have decided to concentrate on praying and spending time with God and letting Him guide and direct me even in my blogging efforts. This might not seem ideal to everyone, but I have followed this pattern for all things in my life so why not blogging too!

I have a mixed feeling about this. Although I agree that sticking to a set schedule for blogging is important to maintain a balance with other things in life, I don’t know if keeping only one blog is the ideal scenario if you want to maximize your online revenue. But at the end, it’s all about your goals and what you think works best for you.

I don’t blog to just make money, so I am not worried about that, I like blogging as a hobby.
I am a web-designer so I can make money doing that.

Actually I’m didn’t had many time for blogging and I’m rather build site which provided information that relevant with time. I had a pregnancy site that didn’t need to monitor much because of its content is enough to be found by organic visitor. Opposite to my akublogger blog that need to update often because some information could change within time..

that is why setting priorities is very important.. for me, i set aside dedicated time for my blog, much so on blog hopping. because above all, we all have social lives to attend to and nourish of course. it is really hard to be a one-man team.

It depends upon how committed you are to being a successful blogger, if you are in it only for the quick buck, it sure can create some anxiety to do it all “Now, NOW, NOW” but if you are blogging simply for the fact of blogging, then you can commit a specific amount of time and then when its up your are done for today.

You can say, I took a week off myself, been busy watching the Olympics and taking a break. It does wear you down at times trying to keep fresh content coming. I have been writing down ideas for upcoming topics. But I am thinking about starting a blog writing about my Golfing experience. Just write from the heart and not worry about PR or Social Networking etc.

Larry.
I think writing from the heart is the best way to approach blogging!

i agree with the previous comments. a routine needs to be set up. as with other things. or else it might swamp your other desired activities.

The balance concept sure is pointed out often, but it might be the case that balance is not that vital. Maybe it would be better to be out of balance for a bit, and then to return to a more balanced state afterward, as far as time spent on material.
