In today’s information revolution people are constantly being bombarded with information. So much so, that information today must be categorized and sub-categorized in order for us to process it. Our highly organized and specialized way of cataloging information is apparent in the number of highly specialized blogs, magazines, television channels and clubs.

Options are numerous for people today because of the ease with which we can now disseminate information. Fifty years ago television channels were divided into news channels and entertainment channels with a channel for children’s programs in some regions on the United States. Today there are channels for dog lovers, makeup enthusiasts and homeowners. There are channels geared to single races and minorities while some channels target single people and other targets married people with children and married people without children.

This specialization has changed the marketing world forever and offers marketers an amazing and valuable opportunity. Now, instead of working hard to find a space in the media where their target market will be most receptive, marketers can simply define their market and choose a specialized ‘space’ that had already been made.

Therefore, people today choose their spaces and in doing so are also choosing their advertisements. This means people will generally be more receptive to the messages they are seeing because they are choosing their space and their messages. What a valuable tool for marketers today. Now, marketers can reach their target markets much more easily than they could in the past through choosing specialized spaces. This is easily done through internet marketing.

Internet marketing is constantly changing and in order to be navigated it requires individuals who can remain plugged in to internet fads and advents in social media. Social media is defined as user generated content that is disseminated through social interaction on the web. In it through social media that people today create these specialized spaces. On facebook, users join and create clubs and can share pictures and almost limitless amounts of information.

This provides an opportunity for companies to market their products to those that are members of clubs that would be receptive to their messages. It also provides a platform for companies to share limitless information with their fans and customers in a way that they are used to receiving messages.

Companies today must evaluate their use of internet marketing. Those that are not taking advantage of internet marketing will be left in the dust of those that are creating specialized messages for specialized spaces.

Just saw this…Domain Consultant is promoting their new contest “Domain Madness.” Entries start today and the contest is open through March 25th. The idea is to pick the names that sell at the Domain Madness Premium auction for at least the reserve price. They make it easy to enter on the Domain Consultant site – all you have to do is check off the boxes next to the domain names you think will sell. The person who correctly picks the right results in their entry can win $1000. See if you have right stuff to call the final sales list and win! You can be new to domains or an old timer domainer, it doesn’t matter….

As many of you know, I won a contest over at Group Writing Project last week, which led me to start my own contest. I was browsing through the archives of Group Writing Project and found a post entitled: ‘Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2008 Group Writing Project‘. It talks of a contest being help by ‘Influential Blogger‘ where you have to write a post about 10 blogs you think are emerging in 2008.

I thought I would give it a shot, the blogs have to be newer than July 2007, so I had to pick 10 that have been created in the last year that I think are emerging as influential blogs in 2008, here are my 10:

  1. traffikd.com – Social Media & Internet Marketing Blog
  2. inspiredmoneymaker.com – Make Money Blogging
  3. theuniversitykid.com – Helping You To Make Money Online
  4. rajaietalks.com – Provides Some Great Blogging Tips
  5. thoushallblog.com – Very Active Here At ProTycoon.com, One For The Future!
  6. ironblogger.com – A Very New Blogging Tips Blog
  7. melvinblog.com – Already Has A Good Established Readership For A New Blog
  8. lostartofblogging.com – A Guide To Proper Blogging
  9. blogriffic.com – Marketing, Better Blogging and Design

They are my Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2008, as you can see I have stuck to the ‘Blogging’ niche so you should all find these sites useful.

Who would be in your Top 10?

Don’t forget ProTycoon.com is still less than 6 months old ; )

Win $100 from ProTycoon.com

As you know ProTycoon.com won its first competition the other day, for details see: ‘78 Tips to increase Your RSS Count‘. It felt great to win a competition and I want to share that feeling with three lucky ProTycoon.com subscribers, by running my own contest here at ProTycoon.com.

I wrote a few days ago about the ‘Building RSS Group Writing Project‘, this was a contest where bloggers submit their RSS building techniques via posts on their blog, that linked back to the contest page. In total 19 articles were submitted by 13 different bloggers, generating 78 great tips to help bloggers increase their RSS Subscriber Count.

I strongly suggest you check out the 78 Tips to Increase RSS Subscribers for Your Blog.

As I mentioned in my previous post there were some great prizes up for grabs, 3 of the 4 winners have been announced, one lucky blogger actually took two of the prizes:

Overall Winner: David Shaw – ProTycoon.com (Me)

Random Winner: Paul Piotrowski -InspiredMoneyMaker.com

Promotional Contest Winner: David Shaw – ProTycoon.com (Me)

As you can see I won the competition, it is the first time I have won a contest like this and I am very happy. Of course I have to thank all of you who helped me to win the Promotional Contest by checking out the contest. I am going to be giving something back to my readers in the coming days so subscribe to my feed so that you don’t miss out.

All of these tips and some extra ones are being compiled into an ebook by Jacob over at Group Writing Projects, I will let you all know when it is available as it should be a good read.

For now you should check out the following posts for advice on building your RSS subscriber count:

Blogging IdolBlogging Idol, the competition that challenges bloggers to see how much they can raise their subscriber count in the space of one month officially began yesterday.

ProTycoon.com is in the running, although Daniel did forget to add me to the competition page, hopefully by the time you are reading this I have been added.

There are over 100 bloggers battling it out to become the blogging idol and only one chance to win the $3000 prize.

The level of bloggers in the competition varies, there are a lot of blogs at a similar level to this one, but there are also some brand new blogs, as well as some very established ones with over 900 subscribers already.

There is an RSS Limit of 1000 subscribers so that the competition can focus on the smaller blogs and stop the blogs who already have a big influence stealing the prize.

Here are the rules for the competition:

  1. All participants must activate the Feedburner feed count at the beginning of the competition.
  2. Participants will need to send a short email weekly (100-200 words), describing their strategies to gain RSS subscribes, and what they are doing on their blogs.
  3. I will group all those emails and publish them on a single post every week, so that readers can follow and understand how participants are competing.
  4. Black hat methods will not be allowed, so you can’t fake stats, try to damage the blog of competitors and so on.
  5. Paid promotion will not be allowed, else it would become a “who can spend more” contest.
  6. All other strategies and techniques are allowed (guest articles, contests, give-aways, controversial articles, free eBooks), so you are free to get creative
  7. The winner will be the blogger that manages to increase his RSS subscriber base by the largest number (final count minus initial count).

As you have no doubt guessed I am now going to ask you to subscribe to my blog and become an official supporter of ProTycoon.com throughout July. What are the benefits of supporting ProTycoon? Well if I do win I will give the $700 complete SEO consulting from Joost the Valk, to the blogger who does the most to promote ProTycoon.com during July.

You can promote my RSS Feed or the blog itself. Please make sure you notify me of any promotion work that you do, so that I know to consider you at the end of the month.

Your first step however is to SUBSCRIBE TO MY RSS FEED!

Feel free to Stumble and Digg my posts as a way of promoting the site, you can use the icons below each post.
