David Shaw founded ProTycoon in February 2008. His aim was to build a blog which helped bloggers and webmasters make money on the web. David did a fantastic job for the first 6 months of this blogs life but due to work and studying committments, he was unable to give the site the time it needs so he decided to sell up. David had blogged for me before and I was an admirer of his work so when I dropped by the blog and saw that it was for sale I jumped at the chance.

My name is Kevin Muldoon. Some of my projects can be seen on my personal blog System0 but I’m sure some of you will know me from my blogging advice website Blogging Tips. I plan on continuing the good work that David has done and developing this site over the next few months.

So what can readers expect from this ownership change? Well first of all I am aiming to post on this blog at least 3 times a week. In my opinion regularity is a big part of a blogs success so I want to make sure you all have a reason to subscribe and drop by regularly. I will be posting about design, search engine optimisation, making money online and much more. The focus on this blog will not just be towards blogs though and many website related topics will be covered. For example, if I find a good script which I think you guys can make money from I’ll post about it :)

If you have any suggestions about what you would like covered on ProTycoon please let me know. :)

Last but certainly not least, I want to thank David. The transaction was very quick and he made sure the transfer went very smoothly. David has did a great job with this blog so far and I’m sure when his college commitments are over we will see him again on the web, in some form or another. Best of luck David :)

Thanks guys,

Kevin

I have been looking recently for someone who is willing to take on the role of writing for ProTycoon.com, as I have found noone to perform this role for me I am forced to sell.

The blog is in good condition, with a custom theme and 100+ subscribers. The blog also receives 1000s of hits per month, so is a good investment for a new bloggers or someone looking to expand their blogging network.

The Sale will take the form of a silent auction, this means that if you are interested contact me with your offer for the blog, the highest offer after 2 weeks will get the blog.

I believe this is a fair way of doing business. I will notify each highest bidder when their offer has been beaten by another.

I look forward to selling this blog and hopefully seeing it grow and expand it’s influence in blogosphere.

You can contact me to make a bid via my contact form.

If you have any questions you can post them below!

Hi everyone!

It has been a while since my last update. Have been really busy with my website design work, as well as other things. This has meant that I have not been able to update the blog in the last week or so.

I thought I would post so you all know I am still around!

Also, as I am having little time at the moment to update, I am accepting guest posts, on the theme of making money from your blog! If you have a post that you would like to see on ProTycoon.com, please feel free to contact me!

I thought I should also let you know that I am currently debating whether to sell ProTycoon.com! With me being busy with my other work, and the new college year only two weeks away, things could get busy for me. With that in mind, I would be willing to listen to any offers, my current asking price is not as high as many people will expect, so feel free to get in touch if you are interested.

Will hopefully get some more posts up in the coming days!

As many of you will know I ran a small survey of bloggers to try and get some statistics about bloggers. The survey is still open if you want to get involved, you can find details here: ‘The Bloggers Survey #1‘.

So I thought I would give you a few updates on the bloggers that make up the blogosphere. I will run through some of the stats that I have gathered so far, you may find them useful when working on your blogs.

Q1. How Many Blogs Do You Run?

  • 42.9% – 2-3 Blogs

The rest are spread between 1 blog and 5+ blogs but the majority of bloggers surveyed run 2-3 blogs. This means that bloggers are sharing their time between blogs and can leverage the power of each blog and share it amongst the others. It also means that bloggers are in a good position to network with other bloggers as they have a large target area.

Q 3. What Blogging Platforms Do You Use?

  • 71.4% – WordPress

This is a stat that I expected, I have seen a big rise in the number of bloggers that are moving to WordPress. If you are running a blog about blogging then you may want to lean slightly towards your WordPress readers as there is a chance that there is more of them.

Q 4. How Long Have You Been Blogging?

  • Average of 3-4 months

This is a stat that slightly surprised me. I have decided that it is down to either the fact that people who read my blog are newbies that are still learning about blogging or many bloggers don’t last past the difficult first 6 months. What do you think the reason is for this stat?

Q 8. How Much Do You Earn Blogging? (Per Month)

  • Average of around $20

This is a lot lower than I was expecting, it is something that I am going to be focusing on next week, to help us raise this average. I will provide some guides on how to increase your earnings via your blog. So make sure you subscribe to not miss out.

This is just a snapshot of where we are so far in the survey, I will leave it open for a few more weeks. Once I feel a fair number of bloggers have taken the survey I will close it and produce a small ebook of the results. Which will include links to the blogs that participated.

I would like to know some of your feelings on the results so far?

If you have not participated and would like to, please see: ‘The Bloggers Survey #1

As many of you may have noticed I have not done any updating this week, this is because I decided to take a week out. I have been working really hard on all of my sites and blogs over the last month and have put a lot of other activities in my life on hold.

The last week has made me realise that I need to spend less time working online and focus on the things that are really important in life. I spend a lot of my time blogging, reading other blogs, updating my other sites, checking stats and advertising. The combined time of all these activities mean that it takes up a huge chunk of my week.

The result is that I have decided to stick to just one blog, this one. I currently have two other blogs and a number of money making sites. I am now going to sell all of those and focus all of my energies on ProTycoon.com and free up some more time to actually have a life.

I know many people who find it really easy to manage a number of sites and don’t let it control their life, but at the moment I feel like there is a lot of pressure on me to update and maintain my sites.

I want to know how you manage your time blogging? Do you set time aside for blogging activities?

Also if anyone is interested in purchasing an established blog, or any of my sites contact me for details of what I am selling.

The end of the month has arrived and I am now looking forward towards August, one of my decisions now is what to do with my 125×125 Ad spots for the month.

I have one spot being given away to the winner of my contest and have agreed a deal with another blogger to show their Ad on my site in August, that leaves four free Ad spots for the month of August.

In my eyes I have two options, I can either sell the remaining 4 spots for a set amount, or I can go for the riskier option of adding affiliate Ads which could yield higher results but could also earn nothing.

It seems that many bloggers go for a mix of direct ad sales and affiliate ads on their blogs, this is a good way of getting a fixed amount as well as a varied amount. I think that this is the best way of optimising your blogs income, I have decided to sell 4 of my spots directly and have the other two spots as affiliate Ads.

If you are interested in purchasing an Ad on ProTycoon.com then please feel free to contact me for the price.

I want to know what method you prefer to use on your blog? I also want to know how you go about selling your 125×125 Ad spots?

ProTycoon.com has been nominated for two categories in the Bloggers Choice Awards and I am asking for your support, to help me rise up the rankings.

ProTycoon.com has been nominated for:

If you feel I deserve my nomination please feel free to head over and vote for me!

There is a lot of competition but I would love to make the top 10 in Best Blog About Blogging award.

Are any of your blogs nominated? If so post up your links below so people can head over and vote for you!

Let’s hope we can all be winners!

My site was nominated for Best Blog About Blogging! My site was nominated for Best Blog Design!

July has been a very big month for ProTycoon.com, I have seen my subscriber count destroy the 100 subscribers target I set out to achieve for the month. I have also seen a big jump in traffic and comments, this has all helped to push my Technorati rank to around the 75k mark.

A lot has happened over the month in terms of posts and competitions so I thought I would have a short review of the month.

Top Posts This Month

As you can see there have been some really good posts this month.

As you have seen from the list of posts above, I started my own contest this month, there has been a lot of interest, there is still 2 days left to get your entries in, with the winner being announced on Friday or Saturday depending on how long it takes to sort it all out.

July will also be remembered as the month of Blogging Idol, I have managed to raise my RSS Subscriber count by around 104 this month, which I believe has me at around 12/13th place. Please feel free to promote my feed over the next two days to help me break into the top 10. Any help may be rewarded ;)

Ask people to check out my blog, or ask them to subscribe to my feed via E-mail

I am still accepting entries into my first bloggers survey, it only takes a few minutes to complete, and could get your blog featured in my upcoming ebook. Please take a few minutes to give it a go!

On  a final note, the site may have some downtime over the next 24 hours, I am moving host due to suffering a lot of downtime and unprofessional service from my current host. I have been unhappy at them for the last week or so and decided to make the move now, so that my site has maximum up time in the future, as the site grows.

Don’t forget you can get yourself featured on ProTycoon.com by purchasing some of my cheap merchandise and sending a photo to me of you with it. Check out the ProTycoon.com merchandise and get yours!

Let me know what you have been up to this month, what would you like to see from ProTycoon.com next month?

ProTycoonThere is not a lot happening in the blogosphere today, so I thought I would take this as an opportunity to give you an update on ProTycoon.com, your favourite bloggings tips blogs!

I think I will start with Blogging Idol, as that is one of the most talked about contests in the blogosphere at the moment. If you have been living in a cave for the past 2 weeks then here is the link to get you up to speed: ‘Blogging Idol Is Live‘, I am entry number 100. I started with 33 subscribers and at the time of writing I am at 59, that is a rise of 26. It is not a massive rise, but I have not used any black hat or cheap, tacky methods, that many of the other blogs have used. I have stuck to producing content that I believe you all want to read, many of the participants are offering freebies in return for people subcribing to their feed. If you enjoy my content and have not subscribed to my feed yet, you can subscribe via a reader or via email.

Now for an update on ‘My Technorati Targets‘:

Target Authority: 200 – Currently 47

Target Fans:20 – Currently 1

Target Rank: 200,000 – Currently 150,339

As you can see I am well clear in the Rank target, but I am a long way down in terms of Authority and Fans. You can help my reach these goals! If you like my content then please consider linking to your favourite posts in a link roundup post on your blog, this can help to increase my Authority. I always return the favour in my link roundup posts. If you have a post that you think is worthy of my link roundup posts on Sunday’s then feel free to contact me with the link and I will consider it. I also need 19 more fans to reach my target. Click here to become a fan of ProTycoon.com. Hopefully I can reach these goals by the end of July.

I thought I would let you know that from July 1st onwards the 125*125 banners in my sidebar will be available for $10 a month. This is a low price to get me off and running with the sidebar banners. If you are interested in purchasing one of my ads, contact me.
