Ecosia- The Eco-friendly Search Engine

Ecosia is a green search engine that saves the rain forest one search at a time. It is absolutely free to use.
Ecosia is powered by Bing ,Yahoo and WWF.

Who is behind Ecosia?
Ecosia is an independent privately owned organization. We are partnering with Bing, the WWF and Yahoo to make our search engine work.

Ecosia was founded by the German Christian Kroll (26) and is based in Wittenberg (Germany). Currently about fifteen people are working for Ecosia. The people involved come from all parts of the world.

Why doesn’t Ecosia partner with Google?
Google generally does not partner with altruistic search engines like Ecosia. It does not make economic sense for them, since they are the market leader. They would lose users by partnering with Ecosia and thus generate less income.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. This seems like a great idea. I am going to look into this search engine a little further to see how it operates. There are a number of people spinning off of the eco concept, some ideas are genuine and others are not.

I will have to follow this closely to see where this fits.

it is not a search engine, it is a spam engine as ecosia is hiding affiliate-links in the generic index. they will earn a lot of money with affiliate programms linke fleurop and many more. this money will probably go into their private pokets!
