The Longest List Of Stuff In The World

Jan19 in Domaining by admin

In the domaining world, the general concenus is that the shorter the domain the better. Short domains are easier to brand and easier for people to remember. Not everyone thinks that way though, certainly not the owner of TheLongestListOfTheLongestStuffAtTheLongestDomainNameAtLongLast.com, a fun quirky site which lists the some of the longest world records in the world.

It might come across as a bit of a gimmick but the owner has managed to achieve a PageRank of 3. He also has a long list of site sponsors on the right hand side of the page, so they are either making money through selling text links or they are passing some PR juice to some of their other websites.

This is a great example of a minisite. It probably took about a day or so to create, most of the time would have been spent adding the content. However the site will now be able to make over a hundred dollars a month from text links or alternatively, PageRank juice can be passed to the owners other websites.

And here I thought my http://www.BrightestFlashlightintheWorld.com was a long domain name!

I wish I owned a very short one, like http://www.Best.com, then I’d use subdomains for keyword phrases. That would keep the overall length more manageable. I’ve always felt funny having this link because it’s so long: http://www.redhotspeakers.com/HollyMannInternetMarketing.html, but after reading your post, it seems too short : ).

Yeah I agree with you people want to come up with names that are simple and easy to remember. A name that sticks. And most often short goes hand in hand with those two things. Haha this website certainly defies this law though.
